The Substitute

I couldn't believe it, I was late again and this time I had no excuse. Except for my little sister's piano lessons which ran late, the car broke down, I couldn't find my backpack or, ok maybe I did have some excuses I could use.

The thing is they didn't happen this morning but on Sunday. But in my books it still counts, anyway my teacher said yesterday and I quote, "If you are late again, you will have one week's worth of homework!"

I know it sounds like she's overreacting, but so far this month I have been late 16 times. Back to the story, as I walked into my classroom my best friend Mira Robinson ran up to me, probably to remind me I was late. But instead she said "Good news! You don't have to worry about getting in trouble, we have a substitute teacher!"

I was so relieved, now I wouldn't have to face a mountain of homework. I sat in my desk just as the teacher came in. "Hello my name is Miss Carrington and I am your substitute teacher," she said with a smile.

For the rest of the day we hardly had any work and after school the kids in my class couldn't stop talking about the substitute. The next few days at school were pretty easy because Miss Carrington was still teaching us.

But then one day right in the middle of the class doing a really easy math sheet, she made a big announcement "I would like all of you to know that I will be replacing your regular teacher." I was stunned, so I asked "Where is Mrs. Walker anyways and why did she leave?" she replied You really shouldn't go into other people's business."

The bell rang and class was dismissed for the day. I couldn't leave like that. I had to know why Mrs.Walker left, so I waited until Mrs.Carrington left and snuck into my classroom. She had forgotten to log of her computer (as usual) so I began looking through files, and finally I found what I was looking for a file labeled Mrs. Walker.

I opened the file to find letters sent between Mrs.Walker and Miss Carrington. I had also found photos. I clicked on the newest letter it read " Mom are you sure you want me to take over your class. There are plenty of teachers better than me, anyway I hope your heart surgery goes well. Your daughter Elizabeth Carrington."

Now I knew why my teacher was gone and why my new teacher got upset when I asked her where she was. I learned a two lessons that day, never take your teachers for granted and if you leave your computer logged on there's a good chance one of your students may look through your files.

My Weekend

Over the weekend I did a few things. On Friday I went to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows with my brother and some friends.

Then on Saturday me, my brother and my mom decorated our Christmas tree. Later on that night me and my were home alone because my mom went to a Christmas party. While she was gone we watched a movie until she got home.

Finally on Sunday we went to Brandon and met my auntie, my uncle and my cousin for brunch. After we ate we went shopping for Christmas presents. That is what I did on the weekend.
